jaque monitors its author's own infrastructure and is offered for
production use under the terms of its [licence](https://jaque.sh/docs/project/terms.md). The event
schema and the config schema are versioned, and every change to either
is listed in the [changelog](https://jaque.sh/docs/changelog.md) with the release it
shipped in.

This page lists every capability marked with exactly one of three states,
and the evidence backing that mark, so a claim made anywhere else on this
site, the landing page included, can be checked against it rather than
taken on trust.

## 1. How to read the table

| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| shipped | Works and is tested. |
| implemented, unverified | The code exists and runs, but its exit criterion has not been met. |
| unbuilt | Does not exist yet. |

## 2. Capability table

| Capability | State | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Single static binary | shipped | See [Overview](https://jaque.sh/docs/deployment/overview.md). |
| Signed packages and archives with apt and yum repositories | shipped | Installed from the public repository in Debian and Fedora containers on every tag. See [Install](https://jaque.sh/docs/get-started/install.md). |
| Six native check types (ICMP, TCP, HTTP(S), TLS expiry, DNS, SNMP v2c/v3) | shipped | See [Native checks](https://jaque.sh/docs/checks/native-checks.md). |
| Nagios exec-protocol plugins | shipped | Runs the exact exit-code/stdout convention unmodified. See [Legacy exec plugins](https://jaque.sh/docs/checks/legacy-exec-plugins.md). |
| WASM plugins on the embedded WASM runtime | shipped | Sandboxed by construction. See [WASM checks](https://jaque.sh/docs/checks/wasm-checks.md). |
| Soft/hard states, flap detection, acks, downtimes, dependencies, escalations | shipped | One pure state machine; core properties are checked with property-based tests over thousands of generated result sequences. See [State model](https://jaque.sh/docs/concepts/state-model.md) and [How it is verified](https://jaque.sh/docs/project/verification.md). |
| Multi-engine ownership handover | shipped, model-checked | The handover protocol is a TLA+ specification whose checker exhausts every interleaving of a two-engine cluster; two current engines never disagree on an object. See [How it is verified](https://jaque.sh/docs/project/verification.md) for the model and the invariants. |
| Event-log replay survives `kill -9` | shipped | Proven against a real process and a real signal: `kill -9` an engine mid-check and it comes back with the exact same state, full history included. See [Event sourcing](https://jaque.sh/docs/concepts/event-sourcing.md). |
| CUE config with SIGHUP hot reload | shipped | See [Why CUE](https://jaque.sh/docs/concepts/why-cue.md) and [Hot reload](https://jaque.sh/docs/config/hot-reload.md). |
| Livestatus: LQL parser and nine tables | shipped | The `status` table is pinned against a replay test of real Thruk connect traffic. See [Livestatus](https://jaque.sh/docs/nagios-compat/livestatus.md). |
| ConnectRPC command API | shipped | See [Command and query service](https://jaque.sh/docs/api/command-and-query-service.md). |
| Embedded SPA dashboard | shipped | See [Dashboard](https://jaque.sh/docs/ui/dashboard.md). |
| ClickHouse, Prometheus remote_write, archive (zstd-JSONL), HTTP, exec, file and OTLP sinks | shipped | See [Sinks and perfdata](https://jaque.sh/docs/observability/sinks-and-perfdata.md) and [Archive](https://jaque.sh/docs/observability/archive.md). |
| Helm chart and container image | shipped | See [Kubernetes](https://jaque.sh/docs/deployment/kubernetes.md) and [Docker](https://jaque.sh/docs/deployment/docker.md). |
| `-target` roles (all/engine/worker/ui/notifier/sink) for split and HA topologies | shipped | Rendezvous-hashed ownership and epoch fencing. See [Topologies](https://jaque.sh/docs/deployment/topologies.md). |
| Nagios importer | implemented, unverified | Round-trips through the IR and emits CUE with a migration report, property-tested for round-trip correctness. It has never been run against a real third-party Nagios config, because the project has no corpus. Only a synthetic, generated config tree has exercised it so far. See [Importer](https://jaque.sh/docs/nagios-compat/importer.md). If you run Nagios and want to point the importer at your object files, reporting what broke is worth more to this project right now than almost anything else you could send. |
| Remote agent | unbuilt | Does not exist yet. It is on the roadmap; building has not begun. |
| Icinga 2 importer frontend | unbuilt | The importer pipeline is built to host more than one frontend; only Nagios is implemented. |
| Differential conformance harness against real Nagios | unbuilt | Nothing currently runs jaque and Nagios side by side against the same config and diffs the outcome. |

## 3. What this does not claim

There is no deployment count and no user count to point to. The
largest installation known to the project is the author's own, and no
installation outside it has reported on running jaque at scale. The
Nagios importer has not yet seen a config from outside this project.

See [Roadmap](https://jaque.sh/docs/project/roadmap.md) for what is next, and [Design
decisions](../project/adrs.md) for the reasoning behind the architecture.
